Dr. Jieshan Qiu is the Director of Liaoning Key Lab for Energy Materials & Chemical Engineering, Director of Center for Nano Materials and Science, Co-Director of the PSU-DUT Joint Center for Energy Research, Dalian University of Technology (DUT), China.
His research interests have been focused on the development of new methodologies for synthesis of functional carbon materials such as graphene, carbon quantum dots, carbon fibers, carbon nanotubes, porous carbon, carbon membranes, and their applications in catalysis, energy conversion/storage, water treatment and environment protection. He received his first degree in chemical engineering from Anhui University of Technology of China in 1984, M.S. degree and PhD degree in chemical engineering both from Dalian University of Technology in 1987 and in 1990. He has received a number of awards, including the NSFC Outstanding Young Scientist Award in 2007; First Class Award for achievements in basic research from the Education Ministry of China; Runners-up Award for achievements in basic research from Liaoning Province of China; and the Young Teacher’s Award from the Education Ministry of China.
Dr Jieshan Qiu has published over 460 papers in peer-reviewed journals such as Nature Commun., Adv. Mater., Adv. Funct. Mater., Adv. Energy Mater., Carbon, Biomaterials, etc. and has filed over 70 patents.
Dr Jason Qiu is the founding editor of the journal FlatChem, a new journal launched by Elsevier in December 2015 with a focus on the Chemistry of Flat Materials. He has served as the editor and the editorial board member of the CARBON journal by Elsevier from 2003 to 2013, and serves on the editorial board of over 20 scientific journals in Chinese and English.
